Maroon No Parlay

I'll on a weary oar
aren't a boatswain able
orange hued and ashore
maroon no parlay
I wrote this guitar line at 3am at NASDAQ by a computer monitor and a bottle of pepsi.
It was meant to be a song about my friend Tim's new voice;
An emotionally honest look at where I'm at in life,
But those kinda songs are very hard to write.
Starboard and ahoy
Tierra del fuego
Can man reach a reef?
Sand and animalia
I wrote a set of lyrics in the park on break from work
About how we never really wrote a krautrock song
and how this might be my last chance to write in code
and have someone besides Alyssa really take the time to listen.
The working title that I had was "Dan Hears Krill in Montclair
and Tries to Crack a Smile"
'Cause some bands break up who won't get paid enough
to get back together again, 'course they're not Pavement and they're not the Pixies.
Not nearly
ninety
runny or
scurvy addled bodies
roomy
dry
bark
and barge
bark and barge

Then one day, he realized
Wanted to go and sweat my lard off
So much fat, no reason why
Tired of bein thick and soft
It should go to waste at the local Y
Watch the grease fall from my frame
With cars to drive and fries to fry
and seep into the maw of an unctuous drain
He got the permits and built the floor
post-exertion I would haste
signed some contracts then some more
to my favourite burger place
he'd save the earth, he'd feed the poor
how could I have known that fabulous taste
with the help of those who run indoors
was the savory product of my own waste.
they take it all and ship it off
to a place on Chemin du Golf
they render it and ship it back
with most of its chemicals intact
barrels on numbered shelves
they sell the people a part of themselves
to heat their homes and drive their cars
they don't give the particulars
Oh let me explain, you may think me a cannibal, I did too
before the nice man from the YMCA explained
why I was a fool, it's clean and cruelty free,
you can power a car with it too
the floors and walls he patented
Ile des Soeurs where I lay my head
built a franchise of his method
workin at the plant for my daily bread
for making oil out of man
which I slather with the product of my work
his life's work, his only plan
someday we will be able to fuel the world with the subcutaneous fat from rich countries and create a post-scarcity economy centered around creative pursuits.

Honday

So awhile ago over last summer i had this belief that I should keep my car in the city, which I didn't expect to be a huge problem but it turns out that there are certain differences in car regulations between the US and Canada. So I took it down to the border, flagpoled across, I got my paperwork, they filled out form 1, everyone at the border seemed really confused about the whole situation to be honest, but I got what i needed and i went and i took my car in to the CAA to get it inspected, which they did.
So the guy a guy at the CAA he looks at my paperwork and he says, "well this is filled out wrong i can't take this." he said, "i dunno if you have to go back to customs or if you can just go to the place in the old port but you might as well start there," so i took the paper and drove down to the old port, turns out there's a customs office. and i get there and the guy says "i dunno you might have to go back to the border," this is the guy at the front not the guy who's actually the customs guy but he gives me a number i take a seat and i wait for them to call the number so i don't have to go back to the border.
so the guy takes a look at my paper and he says, "what's wrong with this?" i said, "i dunno," and he takes a longer look at it and he asks, "has your car ever been rebuilt?" i said that it hadn't cause i didn't want to go into the details even though it had and he looks at it a little bit longer and he says, "well right down here it says that you drive a Honday, you drive a Honda right?" and i said, "yeah," and he looks at me and he says, "well, this paperwork is fine now" and he hands it back to me and looks me straight in the eye and says, "have a good Honday."
